The ADAM logotype was designed by Helen Steed, professional graphic designer. Each letter of the logo was chosen to illustrate the nature of the subject it represents:

is for Art	Reminiscent of "Andy Warhol Dollar Signs" 1982, Andy Warhol 1928-1987
is for Design	Reminiscent of "an exercise in creating letterforms from a combination of geometrical shapes" - an alphabet by Herbert Bayer from the Bauhaus journal, Offset Buchund Werbekunst, Leipzig, 1922
is for Architecture	Reminiscent of a typeface used by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, "the last British Architect of undoubted genius" (Reynar Banham); designer of the Glasgow School of Art, now recognised as a seminal building linking the last decade of the nineteenth century with the whole of the twentieth century.
is for Media	Reminiscent of the MTV logo. MTV (Music Television) is a channel known for breaking boundaries in candid youth television, providing a showcase for contemporary avant garde production companies.
